HKUDS nanobot Hits 41,980 Stars — Ultra-Lightweight Personal AI Agent Pivots From Single-File CLI to Modular Agent Kernel
Hong Kong University's Data Intelligence Lab built nanobot with a core agent loop of just 3,428 lines of Python — 99% smaller than competitors — while supporting Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp, and Feishu out of the box. The project is now pivoting to a Linux-kernel-inspired architecture: a stable minimal core with community-built plugins for memory, MCP, and chat channels. Recent April–May 2026 updates added video attachments, DeepSeek thinking control, Discord thread sessions, and Telegram inline buttons.
