TwelveLabs raises $100 million for video search AI

TwelveLabs closed a $100 million Series B co-led by NEA and NAVER Ventures, with Amazon joining, per its announcement. The round pushes total funding past $207 million and comes bundled with a multiyear AWS Trainium compute deal plus availability on Amazon Bedrock. For a startup betting on video as its wedge, that's a lot of infrastructure buy-in behind one thesis.

TwelveLabs builds what it calls agentic systems for searching and operationalizing large video archives, running on its own Marengo and Pegasus models. The pitch is that video is still the modality most AI tooling treats as an afterthought. Text and code have mature search and retrieval stacks. Sprawling video archives mostly don't.

The AWS Trainium tie-up is the real test here, not the funding number. If TwelveLabs isn't running meaningful inference volume on Bedrock within a year, the multiyear framing was a compute subsidy dressed up as a partnership. Watch what actually gets built on top of Marengo and Pegasus, not just who wrote the check.

The raise lands with those AWS ties already built in, TwelveLabs' clearest signal yet of where it expects its next customers to come from.
