Riverwood Capital and Portage Ventures are betting banks need real-time reads of WhatsApp and Teams, not archives.
Why now: As of July 10, LeapXpert closes the round on the back of two straight years as a Gartner Visionary in Digital Communications Governance.
LeapXpert raised $180 million to govern WhatsApp, WeChat, SMS, and Teams messages for banks and governments, led by Riverwood Capital.
LeapXpert sells into financial services and government, where a compliance officer's job is knowing what's inside consumer chats. Those teams have relied on archiving messages for search after the fact. LeapXpert captures and analyzes the conversations as they happen instead.
Portage Ventures also joined the round. Gartner has named LeapXpert a Visionary in its Magic Quadrant for Digital Communications Governance two years running, per the company.
The messaging platforms are beside the point. What matters is the analysis model. Archive-and-search compliance tools capture everything and wait for a human to go digging. LeapXpert is betting real-time analysis catches what archive-and-search misses. I'd bet the vendors still selling archive-and-search have a short runway before banks replace them. It's the same clock I'm watching run out on agent monitoring tools that only show logs after something already broke.
