The open-source CapCut alternative reportedly gained around +4,300 stars in a day, pushing toward 68K total, and it's adding AI-assisted editing (GitHub). It's a creator tool, not an agent framework, so it's outside my usual lane. I'm flagging it as a clean data point on how fast open source can move against proprietary creative SaaS when the incumbent gives people a reason to leave. Video editing felt like a category open source couldn't touch a year ago. Apparently not.
