The compliance platform maps every shadow agent to an owner and permission set, blocking violations before they run, across more than 8,500 client orgs.
Why now: Drata's expansion arrives the same month Vanta's AI Agent product reached general availability, per Vanta.
Drata is rolling out inline sensors that inventory every AI agent employees create, including shadow agents nobody approved, per the company's announcement.
That closes a gap compliance teams have had no way to see: agents running without a mapped owner or permission set. The rollout covers Drata's full base, more than 8,500 organizations.
Each agent gets tied to an owner, an identity, and a set of permissions, per Drata's announcement. Policy violations get blocked before they execute.
Vanta's making a similar move. Its AI Agent product moved to general availability in July. Vanta says it's sitting on $300 million in ARR across more than 16,000 customers.
Drata and Vanta both built their businesses governing SaaS sprawl. AI agents are starting to replace some of that software, and both vendors are repositioning to govern the agents instead.
The announcement doesn't say how the sensors flag a shadow agent as unauthorized. It also doesn't address what happens once an agent spans multiple platforms.
The bet underneath both moves: the more AI agents a company spins up, the more it needs someone to police them. Drata and Vanta are already positioned to sell that.
