Per-seat licensing assumes a human is logging in, not an agent; Finextra's report doesn't say how LSEG plans to bridge that gap.
Why now: The connector surfaced in Finextra's July 16 coverage of Model ML's AI workflow push, as LSEG's licensed data crossed into agent-mediated distribution.
LSEG feeds its market data and analytics into Model ML's AI workflow automation platform through the Model Context Protocol, per Finextra. That's a jump for MCP. It's mostly lived in developer tooling, and this pushes it into regulated, licensed financial data distribution, a different maturity threshold with real compliance stakes.
Finextra's report doesn't say which feeds are included, or how LSEG's usual per-seat terms apply once an agent, not a person, is making the queries. Per-seat licensing assumes a seat. An agent isn't one.
An agent querying LSEG's data on someone's behalf isn't a seat, it's a process that runs when needed and stops when it's done. If entitlement enforcement doesn't account for that, the deal either under-licenses usage or over-restricts what the agent can do.
Finextra frames the connector as part of Model ML's bigger AI workflow push, positioning itself as a hub for licensed data flowing into agent workflows.
