Airbus is migrating workloads off Amazon Web Services, the test case for whether European sovereignty rhetoric turns into real hyperscaler exits, per The Register.

That matters past one vendor contract: sovereignty pressure is starting to decide where large European AI training and inference jobs can legally run. That shapes which regions get access to which models.

Airbus is large enough that its exit, if completed, would be hard for other European enterprises weighing the same move to ignore.

The Register doesn't say which cloud the workloads land on, or on what timeline. That's not a small gap for a migration framed as a sovereignty test, since the destination is the whole point.

My bet: what matters more than this one contract is whether a European cloud can absorb workloads at that scale without years of re-architecture. If nobody names a landing zone in the next few months, sovereignty stays rhetoric, not infrastructure.
