Alibaba's 15 agents handle 85% of developer support

Alibaba Cloud rearchitected its stack around agent sandboxes, workload isolation, and elastic scaling, per its WAIC 2026 announcement.

For any enterprise weighing a cloud partner for agent workloads, that's a direct bet against AWS AgentCore and Microsoft Foundry. Both host agents on infrastructure built for something else, then add isolation after the fact. That's the pitch to IT teams still deciding where agent workloads should run.

The stack adds two layers to Alibaba's existing AgentRun platform: AgentLoop for tracing, evaluation, and optimization, and AgentTeams for multi-agent coordination. Enterprise identity and elastic scaling round out the rebuild.

Alibaba's numbers: 15 coordinated agents field 85% of developer support requests. Operational support time is down 90%, release cycles down to one day. Those are Alibaba's own numbers about its own team, not an independent benchmark.

That sandbox-first framing stands out at a moment when agent sandbox security is under heavy scrutiny. Alibaba's pitch is that isolation has to be native to the platform, not stitched onto compute that was never built for autonomous agents.

None of this says how the sandboxing holds up against a compromised agent trying to escape its workload boundary, or under multi-tenant load spikes. It also doesn't say whether any of this has been tested outside Alibaba's own environment.
