Blender, Houdini, Unreal, Adobe Add MCP Agent Support

Blender, Houdini, Unreal, and Adobe added agent connections letting AI work inside the software instead of exporting files, NVIDIA said at SIGGRAPH on July 20.

Model Context Protocol has mostly lived in developer tooling and coding agents. Putting it into four production creative apps at once makes 3D and media pipelines an agent surface for the first time.

The old model was file interchange: export a mesh, hand it to the next tool in the chain. DCC software plugging into MCP means an agent can query and edit inside Blender or Houdini directly, without that export step.

NVIDIA paired the announcement with a deskside agent supercomputer, tying Omniverse, Blender, and its Nemotron models into one local runtime. The Blender and Houdini 22 connections plug into that same box.

Agents that can act inside these tools can also read whatever a scene file contains, from embedded scripts to asset metadata built by someone else. VFX pipelines have never had to treat a scene file as untrusted input. NVIDIA's keynote didn't say how an agent will vet that content before acting on it.
