One account ties 80% adoption to graphs as the default build pattern; another puts adoption at 90% with 30% of code from loops.
Why now: Both figures are circulating from Anthropic's own people at the same time, with neither account reconciling the other.
An Anthropic engineer says 80% of the company's engineers now run self-improving loops. Graphs are becoming the default build pattern within four to six months, per the same thread on X.
That's the kind of number that matters if you're wiring feedback loops into your own workflow instead of treating AI as a one-off assistant. Eighty percent inside the company that makes the models would be a strong signal, if the number holds up.
It might not. A separate Anthropic session put loop adoption at 90%, with more than 30% of code now written by loops instead of by hand. Ninety doesn't match eighty, and 'engineers who use loops' isn't the same claim as '30% of code comes from loops.' Those are two different measurements, not one number said twice.
Neither account says which definition it's using, or whether it's counting the same population of engineers. That's the actual story: the company running the experiment has two unreconciled numbers for a stat its own people keep repeating in public.
Treat both figures as directional, not exact. If Anthropic wants the industry to take loop adoption seriously as a metric, its people need to agree on one number before they post it.

The head of Claude Code at Anthropic shared Anthropic's internal workflow: each team maintains a CLAUDE.md in git that logs every mistake Claude makes so it's never repeated, plus style conventions, PR templates, and architectural decisions. Read at the start of every session....
Anthropic's July 28 post says explicitly: "Our own research on recursive self-improvement, published last month, points to the need for tools to deliberately pace the frontier." That June report found over 80% of code merged into Anthropic's codebase was written by Claude as o...
A July 17 post on X taking direct personal responsibility for underperformance, promising "our best 12 months to date" ahead. Rare from a frontier lab CEO. It lands against a 2026 of complaints about bland responses, a poorly received desktop app, and ground lost to Google and...
The RSI debate has been vibes and timelines for two years. This week a frontier lab published an actual measurement from inside its own walls. The Anthropic Institute reported an 8x increase in lines of code merged into its codebase in 2026 versus the 2021–2024 baseline. The t...
1. Flip your multi-model pipeline to review-then-generate. Instead of using a reasoning model to plan before code generation, let the specialist generate freely and use reasoning tokens for review. Paper shows 90.2% pass@1 vs 87.2% for the planning pattern. Source 2. Audit you...
