Antigravity CLI Adopts Claude Code's Markdown Agent Format

Antigravity CLI now defines custom agents in plain Markdown, matching the authoring format Claude Code uses for subagents and skills, per Havoptic. Version 1.1.6 shipped July 24. Agent definitions are becoming portable across CLIs instead of locked into one tool's config schema.

It's the third release in the tool's recent run. Version 1.1.5 added the /effort command. Version 1.1.4 introduced chaining, letting a sequence like /plan /grill-me run as one command instead of two separate calls.

None of those individually change much. The Markdown switch does, because other CLIs are adopting it too. Havoptic notes Markdown-defined agents are becoming standard across CLIs, turning the format into a shared convention instead of a feature any one tool owns.

Copying Claude Code's Markdown format is a vote for Claude Code's convention becoming the industry default, not evidence Antigravity is closing the gap. What's worth watching is whether other CLIs standardize on this same file format instead of forking their own.

The update landed July 24, the third point release in a row after the effort and chaining commands. That pace fits a tool iterating fast while the format question plays out across CLIs.
