Jensen Huang's First Tweet Doubles AI Coalition to 50

Jensen Huang used his first post on X, on July 24, to publish a three-page letter, Open Weights and American AI Leadership, per Forbes. He posted it on Nvidia's own servers, not X.

Twenty-five companies signed on immediately. Within a day the list doubled to 50, an unusually fast show of unified support for a single AI policy position.

Among the original 25 were Meta, Microsoft, IBM, Mistral, Mozilla, Hugging Face, a16z, Palantir and the Linux Foundation. OpenAI, Google, AMD, Cisco, Cloudflare, GitHub, Block and Ollama joined after the fact, per Forbes. Amazon and Anthropic are the only major companies still missing.

Forbes' Sandy Carter flags the paradox directly: Nvidia is asking for open weights in American AI while keeping its own CUDA proprietary. Forbes doesn't say whether Nvidia plans to change that.

Carter draws a sharper lesson from the timeline: "the window between a position becoming visible and becoming crowded is now measured in hours."
