Battery Ventures and Penny Pritzker's PSP Growth co-led the round, taking Freehand's total funding to $100M for agents running inside Meta and Pfizer.
Why now: Freehand's raise crosses $100M in total funding, the clearest test yet of whether enterprises will trust agents over the record systems they already bought.
Freehand raised a $75M Series B led by Battery Ventures and NewRoad Capital, with Nexus and Penny Pritzker's PSP Growth also joining, per Crunchbase News.
The round pushes Freehand's total funding to $100M and backs a specific bet: spend agents belong inside procurement workflows, not a new system of record. Freehand's agents already run inside Meta, Unilever, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson, recovering 5-10% of spend in some categories, according to the report.
What matters here is who wrote the pitch, not the check size. Freehand's founders, Jayakrishnan and Abhijeet Manohar, built Pando, a transportation management and procure-to-pay system of record, and sold it. Then they raised money to build agents that act on ERP data instead of storing it.
Freehand's core IP is a Category Context Graph, which stitches unstructured signals like email and documents to structured ERP data. That's the opposite instinct from a system of record. Instead of forcing procurement data into clean fields, it acts on the mess that's already there.
The 5-10% recovery figure applies to some categories, not all of them. Crunchbase's report doesn't say how the agents perform on spend that's harder to parse.
Watch whether Freehand's next raise reports recovery numbers across more categories, or whether 5-10% in some stays the ceiling.
