The diagnosis is a causality gap: test contexts are noisy or incomplete, static-analysis source contexts include irrelevant unexecuted code, and both mislead the model about root cause (arXiv 2608.10613). Dual slicing (context-aware static slicing to purify test semantics plus execution-trace dynamic slicing for runtime dependencies) builds compact, causally relevant contexts. Evaluated on Defects4J V1.2, V2.0 and Defects4J-Trans with DeepSeek-V3, beating ReinFix and TSAPR. Three cents a bug. Same lesson as story 3, wearing a repair hat: prune before you prompt.
