Xiaohongshu's dots.studio lab open-sourced dots3-note on August 15, a 280 billion-parameter mixture-of-experts model with 16 billion active per token and a 512K context window, per PANews.
SemiAnalysis's chart puts it 4.9 points ahead of the best US open-weight model on Terminal-Bench 2.1, a benchmark for long-running agent tasks. That gap matters for teams choosing an agent base model, but SemiAnalysis says it's still testing whether the score holds up outside the benchmark.
The model handles text, vision, and audio in one system. Xiaohongshu's dots.studio lab paired it with a new training method called TEMPO, built for reinforcement learning on long, multi-step agent tasks.
The preview is already on HuggingFace as dots-studio/dots3-note-prev, alongside an FP8 version, and GGUF conversions for running it locally have started to appear.
If the 75.1 score holds up, dots3-note is the first agent-benchmark leader from a social app company, beating every US open-weight model SemiAnalysis charted.
