Gerganov and the ggml team joined Hugging Face earlier in 2026 but kept full technical autonomy over the project. The thread's response suggests that arrangement hasn't cost him the community's trust.
That trust is doing real work. Local inference across the ecosystem depends on one person's judgment about what merges and ships. A corporate paycheck hasn't visibly changed his priorities so far.
