The fix separates fact-checking from writing, so government filings outrank media reports across 555,926 evidence cards.
Why now: The paper appeared in the August 17, 2026 research briefing, pitched at teams building multi-agent pipelines where sections still contradict each other.
A shared ledger drove 6,845 cross-section contradictions to zero across 555,926 evidence cards, according to a paper posted to arXiv.
For teams running multi-agent research pipelines, that's the failure mode: two agents citing different numbers for the same fact after writing separate sections hours apart. The system draws from 6,130 sources, so the fix isn't limited to toy-scale demos.
The architecture, called Reconcile Once Write Anytime, runs a deterministic librarian that ingests timestamped sources into evidence cards, a metric ledger, and claim graphs. A separate multi-agent writer can only read evidence stamped at or before a cutoff it declares up front, per the arXiv paper.
That single rule removed all 6,845 contradictions across 555,926 evidence cards from 6,130 sources. The shared ledger also ran 3.7 times faster than processing sources one at a time, per the paper.
Trust tiering does the rest of the work. When a media report and a government filing disagree, the filing wins by design, not by whichever agent got there first.
Trust tiering is the load-bearing piece here, not the shared ledger. Pull it and a multi-agent writer drifts back to quoting a blog over a filing the moment two sources disagree, cutoff or no cutoff. Watch whether future work tests the ledger with tiering stripped out. That's the version that actually shows which piece does the work.
