Karp hit 81% distrust, Nadella's 35% trust was the best score, and 45% said AI will hurt their careers.

Young adults rank Alex Karp as the least trusted figure in AI, according to a CNBC Generation Labs survey of Americans 18 to 34. 45% of respondents said AI will hurt their careers, and 40% want federal regulation of the industry.
81% of respondents don't trust the Palantir CEO to act responsibly. Satya Nadella scored best among the nine executives tested, and he still only reached 35% trust.
Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, Elon Musk and Sundar Pichai each landed in the 70% to 75% distrust range, the survey found. AI itself and even data centers scored better than any of the executives tested.
Commenters on Hacker News read the numbers as calculated economic distrust, not fear of the technology, a reading the career number supports.
Nadella's 35% trust score is the high end of this survey, not an outlier to fix with better messaging. Closing the 45% career-threat gap will move these numbers more than any executive's PR push.
