MetalBear shipped mirrord 3.250.0 on August 21, patching an HTTP/2 memory exhaustion bug tracked as RUSTSEC-2026-0258. The tool runs your local process as if it were a pod in the cluster. It gives you real env vars, real DNS, and network traffic routed back to your machine. That's what makes a memory bug in its HTTP/2 stack worth patching fast. It mediates live traffic between a developer's laptop and a production or staging cluster.
The update swaps in a patched h2 crate, closing a path where empty HTTP/2 DATA frames could drive unbounded memory use, per the GitHub release. The advisory doesn't say how long the flaw sat in mirrord's dependency chain, or whether any clusters saw memory pressure from it before the patch.
The same release also fixes something smaller but telling. The session monitor UI had been re-sending a telemetry opt-in event on every poll. An idle mirrord ui tab kept sending events it didn't need to. Neither bug is exotic. Both are the kind of thing you only catch once enough people are running the tool and someone watches the traffic.
