OpenSpender gives AI agents self-custodial USDC wallets

OpenSpender launched on Show HN August 26, giving AI agents self-custodial wallets to pay across x402 endpoints, per Trigger Labs.

Builders wiring agents into paid APIs are paying per request across 15,171 x402 endpoints and 141 MPP services, without human approval for each charge. The wallet caps spending per request, per day and in total, so a runaway agent can't drain an account.

Run npx openspender connect, or add the MCP server, and the agent mints its own card with those limits attached. Payments settle in USDC on Base, and every transaction goes into an itemized ledger the agent's owner can audit.

That coverage includes Anthropic, OpenAI and Gemini models, FLUX and Stable Diffusion image generation, Exa and Tavily search, and Modal compute. The count, pulled from Coinbase's x402 Bazaar discovery API, is the first concrete measurement I've seen of how big the machine-payable web is.
