Three AI phone-agent products launched the same day

Dial, ThunderPhone and 1Dial launched on September 2, each selling AI agents a phone number. Wiring a bot to make and receive calls used to mean a custom Twilio build. Three teams turned it into off-the-shelf infrastructure priced at about two cents a minute, on the same day.

Dial reached #7 on Product Hunt pitching itself as a way to give an AI agent a real phone number. ThunderPhone positioned itself as a platform for AI phone agents at the same $0.02-a-minute rate. 1Dial appeared on Show HN as an AI you call or text to get tasks done, per a roundup of that day's launches.

None of this is new capability. Wiring an agent to make and receive calls has been a solved Twilio integration for years, the kind of thing a team builds once. Three separate teams started selling that plumbing as a standalone product, priced by the minute, all in one day. I've seen other developer tools follow this pattern. A burst of single-purpose launches at commodity pricing comes first. Then the capability gets absorbed into whatever framework everyone already uses.

Watch for a partnership announcement in the next few months between any of the three and an established agent framework. That would show who survives the absorption and who gets rebuilt in-house.
