Its 62 forks against 46 open issues point to active contributors rather than spectators.
Why now: vLLM pushed new activity to the repo on September 8, 2026.
vLLM opened agentic-api on March 23 to move agent session state into its own serving layer. Most agent frameworks rebuild conversation history and multi-turn state on the client for every call. If vLLM handles that itself, frameworks built on top of it can drop that work.
The repo has 226 stars, but the sharper number is 62 forks against 46 open issues. That ratio reads as contributors extending the code, not spectators bookmarking it.
It's also first-party vLLM work, built by the same team that runs the inference engine. vLLM already handles a large share of production LLM inference. A stateful layer from the same team has a more direct path into existing deployments than a third-party framework would.
The repo doesn't say whether this ships as a core vLLM feature or stays a separate install. It has 21 open pull requests, so the API is still moving, and anyone building against it now should expect changes before it settles.

Most coding agents run on JavaScript runtimes and eat 300MB of RAM just sitting idle. Zerostack is built in pure Rust, uses ~8MB on idle, ~12MB while working, and posts 0.0% idle CPU. It hit 1.0 on crates.io this week with 474 points and 252 comments on Hacker News. The archit...
mxc was created February 6, sits at 1,301 stars with 70 forks, pushed today, and describes itself only as "policy-driven, layered isolation and containment." Its backlog is 30 open PRs against 88 open issues, an unusually issue-heavy shape for a first-party repo this small, wh...
Eight thousand stars in a single day. That's what happened when Warp open-sourced its Rust-based, GPU-accelerated terminal on April 28. The repo shot to 47.9K total stars, making it the highest-velocity project on GitHub this week by a wide margin. But the interesting part isn...
