As of v2.1.265, pointing --plugin-dir at a parent folder loads every child plugin and updates the set as folders come and go, no restart needed.

Claude Code's --plugin-dir flag now takes a parent folder instead of a single plugin path. Every child folder with a manifest loads, and the set updates as folders appear or disappear, per Anthropic's v2.1.265 release notes.
If you're building more than one plugin at a time, this removes a specific chunk of dead time. The old flow was edit a plugin, restart Claude Code, wait, repeat. Now you point the flag at the folder holding all your plugins once. Add, remove, or edit any of them and the running session catches up.
The same release adds a cap most people won't notice until it saves them. Tool results written to disk now stop at 1 GB, and the preview says so when a saved file got cut short. Before this, an agent could read a truncated artifact and answer questions about it as if it had the whole thing. Now the truncation is visible instead of silent.
The release notes don't say whether the 1 GB cap is configurable, so anyone hitting it on a legitimately large tool output will want to watch for that in a future release.
