GitHub's API returns no license for cursor/plugins, which defaults it to all-rights-reserved despite the public spec framing.

cursor/plugins has no license on file. GitHub's API returns nothing for the field, which defaults the repo to all-rights-reserved under copyright law no matter how it's framed as a public spec.
That matters because 639 forks already exist. Anyone who forked the plugin examples as a starting point for their own work has no grant of permission to copy, modify, or redistribute that code. Legally, it's still Cursor's alone to use.
The repo got attention before when it started trending, and the license gap is the one part that hasn't moved since. Stars and forks can pile up while the legal terms stay unresolved.
Watch whether Cursor adds a LICENSE file before the fork count climbs further. If it doesn't, every fork made in the meantime is built on code with no stated permission to build on at all.
