Poland's Blik already has a live agentic payment running while card networks still write their own consent rules.
Why now: Finextra covered the transaction in its September 12, 2026 report, while card networks are still finishing their own agentic payment standards.
Blik ran Poland's first agentic payment, letting a user's agent buy a product the moment it became available, per Finextra's report.
The card networks are still finishing their own standards for agent-initiated payments. Blik's transaction is the first real-world test of how that consent gets granted. It uses a model built around a description of the purchase, not a click at checkout.
The user described the purchase they wanted and approved it before the agent found the item or paid for it. The agent then searched, waited, and completed the purchase on its own once the item became available. There wasn't a second confirmation at checkout. Most payment flows still assume a human clicks confirm at the register. This one moved that confirmation earlier, to the moment the buyer stated intent.
Blik is a national payment rail in Poland, separate from the card networks, and it went first. No card network has a comparable agentic payment standard live yet. That makes this transaction the only working example of consent for autonomous purchases so far.

Finextra reports an AI agent executed a real commercial payment. Agentic commerce has been demo-stage for months. A live cross-border B2B settlement is different in kind, and the regulatory path for autonomous payment authorization is the part to track, not the transaction. ---
