One founder built a local-first Android agent before Meta launched Muse, then called Meta's move validation instead of competition.
Why now: Product Hunt's September 12 daily leaderboard put six of these on-device pitches in one place at once.
Work Life Panda took the No. 10 spot on Product Hunt's September 12 daily leaderboard with 74 votes. It pitched itself as 'every task, every calendar, one app, private on-device AI,' against Motion and Reclaim. Both are established task managers with years of calendar and integration work already built. The bet is that keeping data on the device outweighs feature sets built over years.
The same leaderboard carried five more entries built on that logic. Sheet Insights BI builds dashboards from local Excel and CSV files. Portspan is a self-hosted ngrok alternative with wildcard DNS support, released under an MIT license. Its repository was created September 12. Next Notes handles dictation and meeting notes on the device. TubeMerger and creepy.im rounded out the group.
creepy.im's founder titled the launch 'We built a local-first Android agent. Then Meta launched Muse.' The app existed first. The founder called Muse's later launch validation for the choice already made.
None of the six claim to do more than a cloud version of the same category would. Never sending data off the device is the whole reason to switch, not an added feature.
