DigitalOcean pledged $3M to Omarchy weeks after cancelling a $50-a-month GNOME sponsorship.

DigitalOcean joined the Omacom Foundation as a founding corporate patron September 10, committing $1M a year for three years to the Arch-based distribution plus tokens and compute credits, which DHH says brings foundation pledges to about $18.5M, reported by Linuxiac. The infrastructure Omarchy uses to build packages, review code with agents and run tests already runs on DigitalOcean. The contrast driving a front-page Ask HN thread is that DigitalOcean cancelled its GNOME and Flathub sponsorships, worth roughly $50 a month, in the same period. Infrastructure vendors are buying developer distribution through agent-workflow sponsorships now.
