This paper reconstructs how the software engineering community remembers technical hiring across four eras from 2005 to 2026, with retrospective ratings from 911 respondents showing steadily expanding interview work and burden (arXiv 2609.14046). Analysis of public prep questions finds most tested knowledge has a plausible use in an ordinary project, so relevant topics form an invalid process when accumulated beyond the vacancy, presented under artificial constraints, or interpreted without a common job-derived standard. The proposed framework derives a bounded assessment from declared responsibilities and near-term tickets, preserves normal tools, defines three evidence gates, and stops when the decision is supported.

LangChoiceBench covers 28 projects across seven software areas where Python is a poor default, run against 25 LLMs. Python stays heavily over-selected, recommendation-implementation consistency is low, and smaller open-weight models show stronger bias. Analysis of 9,826 reason...
Analysis of 1,300 kits collected 2020–2023 found 284 with zero evasion functionality, heavy reliance on mainstream messaging services for credential exfiltration, and near-identical components across kits. The counter-narrative worth carrying: because the machinery is so heavi...
arXiv 2607.29519 analyzes posts across five research-focused subreddits and finds software engineering grad students systematically outsourcing to LLMs exactly the cognitive effort that builds research skill. The title quote does the work: "You can't outsource the struggle and...
AgenticSTS (arXiv 2607.02255) uses Slay the Spire 2 as a bounded-memory testbed, isolating how explicit memory layers change outcomes across hundreds of decisions. Enabling a triggered strategic-skill layer took the win rate from 3/10 to 6/10 versus a no-store baseline, using...
Analysis of 640K AI crawl events shows ChatGPT's crawler at 91% of all AI web crawling activity on B2B sites, specifically targeting pricing pages, case studies, API docs, and technical specs. The implication for builders: AI crawlability is now a first-class concern. Clean ma...
