Released September 14 (GitHub). Bash, PowerShell and Monitor in auto mode with sandboxing now take per-command allowed_domains, so the hosts a command needs are reviewed with the command and opened for it alone. The four permission-checker fixes: the checker missed the file that fmt and column read when it followed an unrecognized option; it skipped files a wildcard expands to when the wildcard sat in a pattern or option value like grep -v dir/* file; shell variable declaration flags could misrepresent the command being run; and commands with two directory changes, a subshell, or a cd+git chain skipped the prompt under permissions.blockReadsOutsideWorkingDirectories.

One Claude Code release fixed two independent permission-check bypasses on the same day. That's the story. Version 2.1.221, shipped August 4, patches a Bash tool bypass where zsh could execute hidden commands embedded inside [[ ]] regex conditionals. The approval prompt never...
v2.1.218 took dangerous-rm, background-&, and suspicious-Windows-path checks out of permission dialogs, and stopped prompting in plan mode for Bash the static analyzer can't prove read-only. /deep-research also now starts only when you invoke it. Fewer interrupts, but a model...
Claude Code 2.1.251 fixes checks that auto-approved commands assigning an arithmetic expression to an integer shell variable, naming OPTIND=1/0 and RANDOM=2+2. Both now prompt. The same release changes how Bash command output files are created and read back in the sandbox so a...
--restricted or CLAUDE_CODE_RESTRICTED=1 removes the built-in tools that run commands or code plus WebFetch unless explicitly named in --tools, confines file tools to the working directory, refuses bypassPermissions, and ignores user, project and local settings files entirely...
The changelog for Aug 4–6 is an unusually dense run: a crafted Bash command could hide parts of itself from permission checks, tab padding and invisible Unicode could hide text from the approval dialog, workflow scripts escaped their sandbox via dynamic import(), and agent def...
Released September 4. The same build adds bashOutputMaxChars and taskOutputMaxChars, raising inline command and background-task output to 128K characters before spilling to a file, which saves a round trip on every long build log. It also adds --append-subagent-system-prompt-f...
