The case was filed in March 2026 by three Tennessee teenagers seeking class-action status. Their suit alleges xAI failed to build basic safeguards against Grok generating nonconsensual sexual imagery.
Law enforcement raided her stepfather's home and found the images, TechCrunch reported. He died by suicide two days later, per TechCrunch.
xAI had not commented on the new claim as of TechCrunch's report.
Google separately added a toggle that strips visible watermarks from Gemini images while keeping SynthID and C2PA intact. Guardrails on AI image generation are a live design fight beyond xAI's case alone.
