Claude Code adds a command that prices every loaded skill

Claude Code's 2.1.261 release adds /skill-doctor, a command that lists every skill loaded into a session and flags the ones nobody has invoked. It also prices each skill in context tokens, per the Claude Code changelog posted September 4, and shows where to turn each one off.

The cost was always there, just invisible. Claude Code resends the full skill listing every turn whether or not a skill fires. Say you load ten skills and use two. You're still paying the context tax on the other eight, every turn, with no way to see the number until this release.

In an interactive session, the report opens under the /plugin manager's Stats tab. Under the headless -p flag, it prints as plain text instead, so scripted runs get the same numbers without the visual breakdown. The command needs Claude Code 2.1.252 or later, and it skips sessions that don't fetch feature flags.

Whether teams prune anything once they see the numbers is still an open question.
