Pinecone Nexus reaches GA claiming the top τ-Knowledge score at 74% lower cost per task than a frontier-model agent
Pinecone announced general availability of Nexus on August 6, a knowledge engine that pre-compiles enterprise data into governed, domain-specific knowledge that agents query through KnowQL, a declarative query language, deployed inside the customer's own cloud with zero vendor access. On Sierra's open τ-Knowledge benchmark, an agent using Nexus solved 47.4% of tasks versus 46.4% for GPT-5.5, the best frontier model on the leaderboard, at 74% less cost per task; Pinecone also claims pre-compilation cuts token costs more than 90% versus agentic RAG and answers up to 30x faster. Treat the throughput and accuracy figures as vendor-reported — the 1-point benchmark margin is thin, and the more durable claim is the cost and governance story (field-level access control, per-field citations, PII-aware ingestion, lineage to source).
