Chips and Cheese traced matrix and AI instruction-set changes in the compiler code AMD lands months before each chip ships.
Why now: As of July 19, AMD still hasn't confirmed anything about GFX1250 directly, so the LLVM trail is the newest public information on it.
AMD's next AI architecture, GFX1250, is leaking out through LLVM compiler commits that carry its instruction set architecture (ISA), per Chips and Cheese's analysis. The site traced instruction-set changes aimed at matrix and AI throughput, the specs anyone benchmarking inference hardware two quarters out will want.
AMD usually lands ISA support in its compiler stack months before a chip ships. That's what makes commit-level reverse engineering the more current source on the record, since AMD hasn't said anything about GFX1250 publicly yet. It's also not new: this is the same channel that's tipped AMD's instruction-set changes before.
It's an inference from compiler code, not a confirmation from AMD. Compiler commits are the earliest real signal on GFX1250, but Chips and Cheese is reading what the compiler needs, not a datasheet AMD published. GFX1250 hasn't shipped yet, and the ISA could still change in later commits before AMD says anything about it officially.
