The July 17 Product Hunt launch pulled 153 votes for a bet that fixed dashboards are already obsolete.
Why now: Basedash's Suggestions launch sits on Product Hunt's July 17 daily leaderboard, part of the AI tooling moves covered in the July 19 roundup.
Basedash shipped Suggestions on July 17, an AI feature that scans your data and surfaces insights before anyone asks, per its Product Hunt listing.
That threatens the category's incumbents. Looker and Tableau built businesses on translating typed-out questions into charts, a job natural-language BI already handles. If an agent decides which questions are worth asking, the analyst's last unautomated task goes with it.
Natural-language query was the easy half of business intelligence. The hard half was always judgment: which metric to watch, which anomaly to flag, which chart earns a spot on the dashboard. That judgment used to come from an analyst and get frozen into a fixed layout the day someone built it. The business kept moving. The dashboard didn't.
Suggestions is a bet that the frozen version is now the worse artifact. An agent that regenerates that judgment on a schedule makes a static dashboard look stale by comparison every time it runs.
Basedash is small, and 153 votes on a daily Product Hunt leaderboard doesn't prove a market wants this. What's worth watching is whether Looker or Tableau ship a version of their own, or leave the category to smaller players to define.
