Embedded Agents Set to Reach 40% of Enterprise Apps

Embedded agents will jump from under 5 percent of enterprise applications in 2025 to 40 percent by the end of 2026, per Gartner's tracking. That's an eightfold jump in a year, enough to make agent support a baseline expectation, not a feature buyers ask about.

Deloitte's own 2026 SaaS predictions reach the same directional call on budget and workforce impact. The shift is competitive, not technical: shipping an agent feature stopped being a differentiator a couple quarters ago. Anything that adds one in the second half of 2026 is joining the majority, not standing out from it.

Neither source says which functions get automated first or how fast headcount actually moves. That gap matters for anyone sizing a roadmap off the 40 percent number alone.

If 40 percent of enterprise apps ship an embedded agent by year end, agent support becomes table stakes, not a pitch. That's the same shift SSO and mobile apps forced a decade ago. Worth watching whether the remaining 60 percent face a real switching-cost penalty once buyers start assuming the agent is already there.
