Runs can now anchor state to a chosen region, aimed at easing EU data residency and latency requirements.
Why now: Vercel added this to its changelog as of July 21, 2026, without a wider region list or announcement attached.
Vercel now lets each Workflows run keep its state in one home region, per the company's changelog.
That's aimed at teams running durable agent workloads under EU residency rules, who previously built region-pinning themselves or skipped Vercel for regulated data. Neither option was good: extra infrastructure to maintain, or a split stack.
The setting solves two problems at once: where regulated data has to sit, and how far a request travels to write state. Before this, that gap meant a homemade workaround or skipping the platform for EU-regulated work.
The changelog doesn't list which regions are available for pinning. It also doesn't say whether a run already in flight can move to a new home region without a restart.
My take: this is Vercel closing a gap that's been quietly pushing EU-regulated, agent-heavy workloads to competitors or homegrown infra. Watch whether the published region list covers the EU zones that matter. A partial list makes this mostly cosmetic.

Salesforce unveiled Headless 360 at TDX, and this is the most aggressive enterprise platform pivot I've seen. Every capability across Customer 360, Slack, Agentforce, and Data 360 is now accessible via APIs, MCP tools, or CLI commands. No browser. No clicking through the Sales...
Open issues on the AI SDK went from 1,022 to 844 in four weeks. That's the number I'd lead with if I were writing this post, and Vercel did. Vercel published the internals of the system it built to maintain the AI SDK, a repo with over 20 million npm downloads a week, 26,000+...
Guillermo Rauch posted on August 3 that Vercel built an internal agent called @v that "powers day-to-day operations" and is an expert in finance, comms, docs, marketing, engineering and business analytics. Daily interactions and token use both growing exponentially. It's seede...
SaaStr's customer success panel put numbers on something I'd been noticing anecdotally: the CSM role grew 700% through Q2 2022, then flatlined for four years, while forward-deployed engineering is up 1,000%+ and still climbing. What makes it a story rather than a stat is the s...
Node 20 hit end of life April 30, and Vercel is surfacing affected projects now. (Vercel) Queue the runtime bump now instead of scrambling in late September. Small item, hard deadline. Also worth grabbing: Vercel Blob added consistent reads on private storage, so useCache: fal...
Each is positioning to be the single control plane where enterprise agents execute and hold state, Snowflake's CoWork, Salesforce's Agentforce + Data 360, Microsoft's Agent 365 as governance/runtime layer (SiliconANGLE). The lock-in is migrating from data and UI to the agent r...
