Version 2.1.218 also fixes Windows path corruption into CJK characters and adds screen-reader alerts for deletions.
Why now: The July 22 release notes surfaced in the July 25 briefing.
Claude Code moved /code-review into a background subagent in version 2.1.218, per release notes dated July 22. Review output no longer fills the main conversation window. The task context and the review no longer compete for the same budget. That's the difference between running a check mid-task and losing the thread of what you were building.
The same release fixes a Windows bug too. Paths containing \u-prefixed segments were getting corrupted into CJK characters. No explanation given.
It also adds screen-reader announcements for word and line deletions. Before this, deleted text vanished with no audible signal.
None of the three changes touch the model. They're about the tool getting out of its own way: review that doesn't cost context, paths that don't get mangled, deletions that get announced.
The notes don't say whether the background subagent shares context with the main session or runs fully isolated. That gap matters if you're relying on it to catch something the main thread already flagged.

The same man whose framework a model regression destroyed also published the most aggressive prediction of the week, and the tension between those two facts is the whole argument. "The Shape of Things to Come, Part 1: The Continuous Thunderdome" argues traditional CI/CD collap...
Buried in the notes: several 2.1.232 changes covering Cygwin symlink handling and shell input redirections were rolled back, with a narrower version planned (Releasebot). 2.1.233 also fixed idle-session CPU burn on Linux and MCP stream handling. If you are on Windows with Cygw...
Within five days of each other, both Claude Code (v2.1.158, May 31) and Cursor (3.6, May 29) shipped remarkably similar architectures for autonomous agent execution. Both use a classifier subagent that reviews each pending action against conversation context and decides: allow...
One line in the v2.1.215 changelog, July 19: Claude Code no longer invokes the /verify and /code-review skills on its own. You call them explicitly now (changelog). If your workflow assumed a review pass fired at the end of a task, it doesn't anymore, and nothing told you. Cod...
Anthropic shipped cross-session messaging for Claude Code on August 7, macOS and Linux, version 2.1.224 or higher. Two new tools: ListAgents discovers other active sessions on your machine, SendMessage delivers text to one by name. Messages between sessions on the same machine...
