That number can drop as fast as it climbs, since the total leans on unpaid capacity providers can pull back anytime. Anyone building on OmniRoute's free tier is trusting an audited estimate, not a fixed budget.
The open-source router sits in front of more than 290 providers and 500 models behind one API endpoint. Its free tier draws from 516 models across 43 provider pools. At steady state that pool holds roughly 1.53 billion tokens a month, according to the project's own audited figures.
In a user's first month, signup credits push the total as high as 2.15 billion tokens before it settles to the steady 1.53 billion rate. OmniRoute re-audits the math every two weeks and says so explicitly, rather than letting the number go stale and get quoted as fact anyway.
Fifteen provider pools carry a terms-of-service risk flag, per the project, rather than a silent route-through. It leaves the decision to use them up to the user.
This free-router lane is still adding entrants, not settling around one winner. arcships/aimux launched the same week in Rust, claiming a unified layer over 325 providers.
It has picked up only 150 stars against OmniRoute's 38,355, up 7,141 in the past week alone.
