The Rust-based Mac app hit 217 GitHub stars the same week a Kotlin rival advertised itself as explicitly not Electron.
Why now: diri pushed its latest commit on August 7, the same week a native Kotlin rival, BossConsole, also surfaced on GitHub.
diri runs Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Gemini at once, each agent working in its own git worktree inside a native Mac app, per its GitHub repo. Worktree isolation is what stops four agents from overwriting each other's edits, and the approach has already pulled in 217 GitHub stars.
Built by cristicretu, diri extends that same isolation to shells. A developer can run agents and terminal sessions across worktrees and remote hosts from one interface. The project is written in Rust, licensed Apache-2.0, and last pushed code on August 7.
diri shares the week with risa-labs-inc/BossConsole, a 216-star competitor built in Kotlin on the JVM whose README calls out, explicitly, that it's not Electron. Two multi-agent orchestrators, near-identical star counts, both skipping the usual Electron shell.
That's not a coincidence. Electron's memory footprint gets punishing when the workload is four agents plus their shells, not one webview idling in a tray. Both projects are betting developers will accept a native build in exchange for not watching their laptop fans spin.
Watch whether the next multi-agent orchestrator that ships also skips Electron. If it does, the category's answer is already in.
