The two tools do different jobs. MAGI-2-preview targets efficient scaling of video generation, building clips from scratch. JoyAI-Video-Edit handles real-time, open-ended editing through autoregressive diffusion, reworking video that already exists. Builders get a free, commercially usable generator and a free, commercially usable editor, shipped the same day by two separate labs.
The same week, MiniMax expanded the plugin lineup for its H3 model. Add that to the two video releases. The first week of August 2026 turns into an unusually dense stretch for open, commercially usable video tools.
SandAI, JD.com, and MiniMax aren't racing to build one video model that does everything.
