Codex and Antigravity CLI need a manual finalize-session call, since neither fires a true session-end hook.
Why now: The matrix shipped with the v1.27.0 release on August 16, alongside new signed binaries for all three platforms.
ai-memory shipped a compatibility matrix on August 16 mapping where five agent CLIs break session handoff, per the project's GitHub page. For anyone building tools across more than one CLI, that gap is the difference between an automatic handoff and five separate manual workarounds.
Codex and Antigravity CLI have no true session-end hook. ai-memory has to call a manual finalize-session command instead of catching the event automatically.
Grok Build CLI ignores SessionStart output entirely, which breaks the resume side of the handoff.
Devin omits subagent events from its lifecycle entirely, per the matrix. Swival only works through MCP because its callback contract never exposes a stable session identifier ai-memory can key off.
ai-memory's matrix reads like the compatibility notes a maintainer wishes upstream had published first. The release also adds signed binaries for all three supported platforms. ai-memory already has 1,537 stars and gained 41 more on August 16, per GitHub.
Cross-CLI tooling needs a per-vendor workaround layer, not one shared hook. No two of these five vendors handle session lifecycle the same way, and nothing in this release suggests that's about to change.
