Fetching from the wire…

Two aggregators for two different layers of the agent stack launched a day apart, after OpenRouter did the same for models.
Why now: Treg followed HarnessRouter's harness aggregator by a day, completing a third layer of the same pattern since OpenRouter did it for models.
Treg launched August 17 as an OpenRouter clone for tools, listing 2,600 APIs at zero markup, per Product Hunt. For anyone charging a spread on a fungible market, that margin is gone.
The listing pins the launch to a day after HarnessRouter open-sourced a rival aggregator for agent harnesses. Three layers of the agent stack are now commoditized by the same move: one token, a normalized catalog, per-call pricing, and no spread. OpenRouter started the pattern with models. HarnessRouter used it for harnesses. Treg used it for tools.
Both new entrants gave away their code and let users self-host it. An aggregator that charges a fee becomes a target for the next aggregator that doesn't.
Whatever fungible layer comes next, agent memory, eval suites, sandboxes, will get its own free OpenRouter clone within months. None of the three that exist now figured out how to charge for the aggregation itself. I don't see the next one doing any better.
