Rednote's dots studio released open weights for dots3-note-preview on August 14, per ACCESS Newswire. The model belongs to the dots3 family, which includes a system that scored a perfect 42 at the 2026 International Mathematical Olympiad. This is the first time dots studio has opened weights from that line. Developers can download, self-host and fine-tune an agent-tuned model from that lab instead of paying for closed API access.
dots3-note-preview is a 280 billion parameter mixture-of-experts model with 16 billion parameters active per token and a 512K-token context window. It has text, vision and audio understanding, built for long-horizon agent tasks rather than single-turn chat. "note" is the lightest of three planned tiers, with "jazz" and "aria" still unreleased. Weights are posted under dots-studio/dots3-note-prev.
The sequencing is the real signal. dots studio put its smallest model into the open first, not the one that won a perfect IMO score. That looks like a lab testing how developers use an agent-tuned open model. It hasn't said whether the olympiad-scoring system ships the same way. Watch whether jazz or aria arrive with open weights or stay closed.
