Motion picture and sound recording employment fell from 450,000 in July 2022 to 326,000 in May 2026 per BLS, with LA shoot days down 48% between 2021 and 2025. Writers, editors and executives are filling the gap with reinforcement learning from human feedback contracts, creative writers up to $44/hour and music professionals with a master's or above up to $100/hour.
