Why now: As of August 24, Meetless's client is open-source and the hosted beta is free, giving teams already leaning on CLAUDE.md files a way to test the alternative.
Meetless open-sourced a governance layer that intercepts coding-agent decisions and routes them through human approval before agents act, per founder An Pham.
Teams that lean on CLAUDE.md-style instruction files have no built-in way to catch a stale rule before an agent treats it as current. Pham's argument is specific: agents don't fail by forgetting things, they fail by acting on outdated instructions that look as valid as the current ones.
The tool watches coding-agent sessions and pulls out the decisions, constraints and assumptions worth keeping. It doesn't write those straight into a static file for an agent to read unquestioned. It holds them for a person to approve, and only after approval does an agent act on them again.
The client is Apache-2.0 and the hosted version is free during the beta.
The site doesn't say how the approval queue holds up once the number of flagged decisions outgrows what one person can review in a day.
