Octomind launched Routines on Show HN August 26, externally-triggered scheduled agents that run on persistent cloud machines rather than a script running on a laptop.
That's aimed at builders who've watched a laptop cron job miss a run when the machine went to sleep. Routines is free for one daily routine, then scales to 30 routines at a five-minute minimum interval on paid plans.
Each routine runs with its own persistent disk on Octomind's cloud machines and starts a fresh conversation per run by default. It also supports an optional pre-check before execution and carries a cost cap set per run.
Routines frames the cost against manual chatbot use. A five-step routine costs about 3.2 times a chatbot turn, and a fifty-step routine costs more than 30 times as much.
A run that doesn't fire gets logged with a reason instead of staying silent. I've wanted that before, and I've never seen a scheduler ship it.
