The author says he'd tolerate a daily cap on Anthropic's flagship model, not being shut out of it completely.
Why now: The complaint topped r/ClaudeAI the day Anthropic released Fable 5.1.
A Reddit post says Anthropic doesn't value its $20 subscribers, and it topped r/ClaudeAI the day Fable 5.1 came out. The argument behind its 481 upvotes is specific. The author says he's fine with hard rate limits, twenty messages a day with the flagship model, and objects only to being shut out of that model entirely because of his subscription tier, per the post arguing Anthropic doesn't value its $20 tier.
That distinction is the whole post. A rate limit is a capacity argument. Exclusion from the newest model because of a $20 tier is a value argument, and it's the one that reads as comparative rather than just annoyed. If OpenAI puts its Astra model on a standard $20 plan while Anthropic keeps its best model reserved for Max subscribers, the case for keeping both subscriptions collapses.
The post doesn't say whether the 481 upvotes came from paying subscribers or from people watching the tier debate from outside. It also doesn't say what Anthropic's response has been, if any.

216 upvotes on r/ClaudeAI with a screenshot. Small but load-bearing UX signal: visible chain-of-thought is what lets you catch a model heading down the wrong path mid-response rather than after a long wait, and the per-model split means behavior is now inconsistent across Anth...
Viral r/ClaudeAI and r/singularity claims that Anthropic's frozen Fable 5 had quietly returned were debunked on June 25: staff said zero Fable/Mythos traffic is being served and model-picker sightings were a UI bug. A clean confirmed-vs-rumored data point, and a reminder of ho...
An r/singularity post with demo video claims two new Claude checkpoints, claude-marshmallow-eap and claude-melon-eap, could release as early as this week. A KuCoin news flash reports the same two model strings from social-media leaks. No official confirmation, no parameters, n...

Anthropic's status page logged elevated errors from 04:50 UTC to 07:36 UTC covering Mythos 5, Fable 5 and Opus 5, resolved at 08:30 UTC, with Opus 5 and Fable 5 stabilizing first. (r/ClaudeAI) The recurring complaint in that thread is that failed requests still consume the fiv...
Anthropic added it in 2.1.237 on August 20, selectable under Output style in /config or settings.json. The r/ClaudeAI thread asking whether it reduces consumption drew 219 upvotes and a clear consensus of no: cost sits in input context, file reads, and reasoning traces, not us...
