The macOS app listens through system audio so nothing joins your call, aimed at teams that ban recording bots outright.
Why now: The app surfaced in Show HN listings as of September 6, still sitting at 11 points.
Keen Bean captures meetings without a bot joining the call. Granola, Otter and Fireflies all show up as a participant in the attendee list. Keen Bean skips that step and reads system audio directly off the machine it's running on.
Organizations that ban recording bots outright can't use tools built around them. Keen Bean is built to sidestep that ban rather than argue with it.
During a call it emits tasks and decisions as cards in real time, not a transcript to comb through afterward. It also drafts specs, diagrams and mockups from what it hears, putting it closer to a working-session tool than a note-taker. Transcription and model processing happen outside the company's own infrastructure, so the audio still leaves the laptop. No bot touches the meeting, but the recording still does.
It's $19 a month or $39 a month, with a 14-day trial. The Show HN post sits at 11 points.

The project positions against Cluely, Otter, Granola, and Fireflies with a Rust system-audio layer that works across Zoom, Teams, Meet, Slack, and Discord without per-app integrations. Transcripts, embeddings, and keys stay on the machine by default, with local RAG over past m...

Between August 28 and August 30, the top of Product Hunt and Hacker News filled with products that share no market and one sentence. Ulpaso is a Mac meeting-notes app. It records mic and system audio, transcribes on-device, splits by speaker, writes editable Markdown. No subsc...
Recall.ai's startup program launched today at #6 with 107 upvotes: pay-as-you-go for early-stage teams building proofs of concept, against a universal API capturing Zoom, Google Meet, Teams and in-person audio through meeting-bot, desktop and mobile SDKs (Recall.ai). Recall ra...
Jason Lemkin traced the numbers: Mailchimp peaked around $1.06B ARR in Q4 FY22, the only quarter Intuit ever disclosed the figure, and by Q3 FY26 it's in outright year-over-year revenue decline. Intuit paid $12B for it in 2021 when it was doing $800M and growing ~20%. Intuit h...
Posted to Show HN on September 4, it's a Rust loop engine that dispatches Claude, Codex, Hermes, Pi or NanoClaw against a codebase on a schedule, each run in a fresh isolated workbench inside a tmux session to prevent state leakage, with watchdog monitoring and REST, MCP and w...
