The update also retries rate-limited sandbox websocket connections and adds snapshot-tag support for resuming sandboxes.
Why now: LangSmith posted the 0.12.2 fix on September 5, its most recent SDK release.
LangSmith's SDK now retries HTTP 429 and 500 responses. Earlier versions treated both as terminal failures and dropped the trace, per the 0.12.2 release notes posted September 5.
Traces that seemed to disappear under load were likely a side effect of this bug. A rate-limit response counted as a failure, so the trace was dropped instead of retried.
The same release retries rate-limited sandbox websocket connections in the Python and JS clients. It also adds snapshot-tag support, so a sandbox resumes from a named tag rather than an opaque id.
Teams running LangSmith tracing under real load, where 429s show up often, had trace gaps they couldn't see.
