The same release splits goose's Agent Client Protocol client into its own npm package and adds four security fixes, including HTTPS for Snowflake.
Why now: Goose 1.50.0's release notes are the newest goose changes on record as of September 9, 2026.
Block stripped fast model routing and the managed model registry from goose 1.50.0, pulling two features that used to pick models for users automatically.
That matters for anyone running goose in scripts or automated pipelines, where the router used to pick a model without asking. Those setups now need a model pinned by hand, since the layer that chose one automatically is gone.
Goose 1.50.0 also adds GPT-6 Astra support and tool calling for goose-agent. It splits the ACP client and the acp binary into their own npm packages. Other agent harnesses can now speak Agent Client Protocol without installing the rest of goose.
The release carries four security fixes. HTTPS is now required for Snowflake connections, and CLI session naming is bound to a trusted path. Subagent platform guards are enforced, and permission revocations persist across managers.
The release notes don't say why the registry got cut. Maybe it was a maintenance burden, a trust problem, or a routing accuracy issue that never worked well in practice.

0.35 adds gpt-6-astra to the CLI's OpenAI provider, so llm -m gpt-6-astra works against the same logging, template and fragment machinery as every other model in the tool. For anyone scripting cross-model evals, that means a new frontier model needs zero new plumbing to enter...
